San Atonio was recently named a “new urbanism” pioneer for its work on the River Walk project, which is slated to finish in 2014, at a cost of $279 million. Once finished, the River Walk will extend to 13 miles, reaching all the way to the city’s Mission district. It will be the nation’s largest ecosystem restoration in an urban area.
