4 Great Coffee Bars in San Antonio

Posted by VIP Realty on Monday, October 3rd, 2016 at 1:37pm.

Coffee. That’s usually all you have to say if you want to hear anyone say “Uh, yes, please.”

But where to get a great cup in a great atmosphere? Well, coffee joints are not just a 90s holdover, they’re still dynamite places to get in touch with your inner caffeine addict and get a mini-vacation without going too far away.

Local Coffee

In the Stone Oak section of the city sits this cozy café that may not look surprising at first glance, but which gets more comfy and familiar the more you visit. What sets Local Coffee apart from most places is the almost manic attention to crafting a really (really!) good coffee drink. They don’t use machines you can find at Target, they use what’s been called “the Rolls-Royce of coffee machines” to make every cup a perfect cup. And any coffeehead worth his weight in beans will tell you they measure up here.

Olmos Perk

Away from the hip digs of Stone Oak, Olmos Perk serves up coffee, tea, bagels, and baked goods that are to die for. Or, better, to give you a reason to keep living, just so you can have some. Olmos Perk is stylish and comfortable and about as wi-fi friendly as a café can get. It’s also a great spot to just plain hang, where the music is actually good and not so loud that you have to shout.

Brown Coffee Company

If you ask around, most people in San Antonio would probably say that Brown Coffee Co. is the best cup in the city. What’s not debatable is that Brown was San Antonio's first craft coffee company, and as such, it’s cranking it up a notch in its quest to make the best coffee you can get. Brown takes the uncommon step of directly sourcing its beans, not buying from roasters. This attention to detail is … well, go have a cup, you’ll see.

Sip Coffee and Sandwich Bar

With its hip, minimalist atmosphere and inviting seating area, it’s no surprise that Sip draws a diverse crowd looking for interesting takes on coffee and tea drinks. If you’ve not had a “tea latte,” made with steamed milk, you’re missing out, but, then, you don’t have to miss anything, as long as Sip is around. Add to the mix of tasty drinks a selection of dynamite pastries and excellent sandwiches and there’s always a reason to go.
