Life in the big city offers lots to do, but what happens when you just want to spend the day in the park with the family? Well, in San Antonio, the answer is easy ‒‒ take the kids to one of the River City’s great family-friendly parks, like these:

1 San Pedro Springs Park

San Pedro Springs Park, the oldest park in the State of Texas, is actually one of San Antonio’s best-kept secrets, which is good until everyone realizes what a jewel this park is. Sitting less than two miles north of downtown, the park is named for the springs that emanate from below a limestone bluff and has been a municipal swimming facility since 1922. San Antonio is second only to Houston as the fastest-growing city in Texas. It’s really no surprise why. CNN Money recently ranked San Antonio number five on its list of the top 10 fastest growing cities in the nation. The Alamo City is fast becoming Texas’ technology hub, where innovative tech companies are popping up and employing more people. San Antonio is no stranger to great communities with great school districts. And since the right school district is a major factor in the decision to move, consider the following districts when making up your mind:

1 Northside ISD

Probably the most highly regarded school district in the entire city is the Northside ISD, which even bills itself as “The Destination District.” Northside is located in the northwest quadrant of San Antonio and is the state’s fourth-largest school district (there are about 575,000 people living in 208,000 households in NISD). The district serves some of the most affluent communities in San Antonio, including some of its most upscale gated communities, such as Avaria and Anaqua.

Breakfast

Start the day right and indulge your sweet tooth at Tribeca, where Sunday brunch takes on epic new meaning. Or try Magnolia Pancake Haus for a fluffy stack any day. In the mood for a breakfast taco? You can’t miss with the fluffy soft breakfast taco at La Gardenia or the savory stylings of Taco Taco Café.

Burger

A good burger goes a long way for lunch (or any time). Grab one of San Antonio’s best at Arcade Midtown Kitchen. Or, if you don’t trust San Antonio Magazine’s
