Macdona Real Estate
Macdona - named for the English born George Macdona - is located in Bexar County on the Southern Pacific Line off loop 1604, eighteen miles southwest of the San Antonio metropolitan area. The town originated on land developed after completion of the Galveston, Harrisburg and San Antonio Railway. The first post office in Macdona opened in 1886. Over the years the town never grew much, just a few stores, a blacksmith shop, etc. Even as late as the 1960âs Macdona residents numbered less than 60. But things changed in the 1970âs and 1980âs as nearby San Antonio underwent rapid expansion, and the proximity to this fast-growing city has been beneficial to the value of Macdona real estate.
